Why do I have to know how to swim to be able to do a course?

Well for starters, you will be involved in a Water based adventure sport, which depending upon your skills and further interest can also be extreme. Knowing how to swim and at least be comfortable out in the open water is a pre- requisite for primarily your own safety.

Will I be diving alone if I do the Open Water course ?

Diving is a buddy sport, which means you are never alone, at the stages of learning or exploring, you will always be accompanied by an instructor and/or a divemaster or a buddy diver at advanced stages. in every location. An Open Water Certificate permits you to dive to the depths of 18mts underwater, independently enough to manage your own movement and understand the technicalities and sciences that are involved with the sport.

Why do I need a Full refresher?

It is to ensure that you are up to date with your skills and all knowledge required to dive after a long gap for any reason. PADI terms a period of 6 months after the last logged dive as a long gap. A refresher is 45-60 minutes of confined water session, where we refresh some fundamental open water skills with you.

What happens to my money if I cancel?

We issue you a Credit note that is valid upto a period of 1 year and is transferable, which means you may choose to pass it on to anyone you choose within the year, if you yourself are unable to use the credit note.

What do I need to carry for my course and stay?

We are located on an island that maintains its village life well. We recommend the use of Coral Safe Sunscreen and it should be applied at least 30 minutes before any interaction with the ocean water. Carry towels and sufficient undergarments and sport appropriate and comfortable swimwear. While the islands do have basics available at the local vendors, we recommend you carry any specific vitamins, medicine or supplements that you may use.

Why are prices different in CT and HL?

Havelock is a separate island all together and thus all supplies reach us from the main island of South Andaman, which is where Chidiyatapu is located. While, in Havelock, there are many dive centres, a majority of them dive off the shore and don’t offer boat diving. We, at Lacadives, offer you a boat diving experience like no other with the best in class vessels.

What is the boat capacity?

Refer to the “Meet the Fleet” (insert hyperlink) section on our website. Following current covid restrictions and protocols we have been requested to restrict our boat capacity to half to ensure the safety of everyone on board, crew and clients.

Can my non diving family member/friend accompany me on the boat?

It depends on the dive day and we give priority to the divers and then the accompanying guests. But yes, you may pay boat charges for an extra non diving seat on the boat. Our team and crew is not responsible for unattended minors on the boat and we strongly recommend that only divers come on the boat to be able to focus on the dives as planned.

What are popular tourist hot spots and activities on the island?

Depending on the island that you are on you may be able to Kayak, Jungle Trek, Hike, go join anIntertidal walk, Beach bonfires etc. Plan your trips better on the spot after you have personally judged the weather and activity.

How should I choose between locations?

Every island has its own charm, but Quaint and a peaceful serenity is common to all. Give yourself a few days and hop between the islands. That’s what we do. Why choose one when you are short ferry ride away from another

How easy are entry and exits via ferry on the islands?

The ferry system on the island is very well planned and executed almost flawlessly. In any case, the port authorities are well experienced and equipped to handle any situation. Hail or storm. So be rest assured that your time will be safe. But we do highly recommend keeping well distanced time between all important flights to or from Port Blair so you don’t have to rush in case of any emergency. We are on the islands and mother nature runs the show for us. Make sure you give yourself an easy and relaxed travel schedule.

What is the best time to dive?

The best time to dive is the time the You decide it's time to Dive. Andaman can accommodate diving almost throughout the year, of course the pandemic has changed the equation a bit and we have a “slow season” during the monsoon July-Sept. The rest of the year it's sun, sand and the sea.

What happens if it rains and the activities/diving is cancelled?

Depends on the activities, and you will be rescheduled if your time on the islands allows so or a refund/credit note will be given. Although if you have missed the activity on your own accord you, that will not be accommodated. Kindly read our terms and conditions before or contact us for any further queries.

Can I bring my own gear ?

YES We love that you have your own gear and would be happy to store it for you if you are on a multiple dive day schedule with us.

Do the prices include the gear, can we keep them ?

The prices mentioned are inclusive of gear rentals for the dive trips as planned. No, you may not keep the gear after use. Although you may purchase yourself a brand-new pair from our tuck shop at the dive centre. We’ve got cool merchandise and cool products.

Why do we have no “Paid internships” ?

Scuba diving is an adventure sport, the only sport to use a support system to be able to breathe underwater and in an environment that is not well known to the average human. Apart from the fact that we hire the best of the best, focus on skill, team work, communication, eagerness to learn and personal interests are key. “Paid internships” dont work for that and the biggest reason being… We give you boat rides, gear rentals for free during your stay and unlimited tanks to help develop your portfolio in return for your work. How do I reach your dive center ?

Refer to the “Getting There” section on our website. Port Blair is the major Airport and Port that connects the islands to the rest of the world. A strong ferry system keeps inter- island movement comfortable, economical and flexible.

Can I book the ferry in advance ?

Yes, you can book your ferry online directly. Mackruzz, Aashi, Green Ocean and a local government operated ferry run daily to various other ports from Port Blair.

Can I consume alcohol or smoke on the boats?

NO. with fuel, gear and consumables on the boats. Safety is our first priority and we shall be unable to let any guests under the influence of alcohol partake in any activity offered by Lacadives.

Can I consume alcohol before diving ?

Consumption of alcohol prior to an activity is dangerous as it affects the physiology of the human body when taking part in water related activities. Safety is our first priority and we shall be unable to let any guests under the influence of alcohol partake in any activity offered by Lacadives. Should this occur, it shall be considered that the guest has cancelled the activity and the cancellation charges above shall apply.
