ReefWatch is a non-profit Organization established in 1993, as a Public Charitable Trust under the Societies Registration Act. Reefwatch is involved in research, education and outreach activities. These have included coral reef monitoring in the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, documentary films, beach clean ups in Mumbai, SCUBA training for scientists and education programs in schools across the country.
The Andaman ECO-logical Diver Course is for any certified diver who loves the ocean and wants to do their bit to protect it. In particular, the course would be of special benefit to: Aspiring Marine Biologists / Ecologists or Conservationists, Budding underwater photographers (because you learn how to spot smaller rarer creatures and learn about animal behavior so you can predict it.
Being in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and experiencing the marine world through diving in itself creates environmental sensitivity, and we are able to modify and structure our activities in a way where we can fulfill various learning objectives of the school – whether it is from the science curriculum, IB CAS requirements or team building and leadership activities. The program outlined below is a 6 night/ 7 day schedule that covers the PADI Open Water Course with a Basic Island Ecology program, however we are open to modifying this based on the school’s requirements. We are also able to modify the program for different age groups, ranging from 12 to 18 year olds.
School/ College / University applicants as well as families and individuals who like their holiday to be as good for the planet as it is for them! Not only do you contribute towards research but for each individual who participates, ReefWatch receives Rs.5000 towards our community outreach program.
